Environmental Management System (ISO14001)

Environmental Management System (EMS) refers to the management of an organization’s environmental programs in a comprehensive, systematic, planned and documented manner that contributed to the environmental pillar of sustainability. The purpose of the standard is to provide organizations with a framework to protect the environment and respond to the changing environmental conditions in balance with socio-economic needs.

More formally, EMS is “a system and database” which integrates procedures and processes for planning, support and operations such as planning to achieve the environmental objectives; providing the resources needed for the establishment, maintenance and continual improvement of the EMS; monitoring, summarizing, and reporting of specialized environmental performance information / controls to interested parties. It provides the practical tool for companies and organizations looking to identify and control their environmental impact and constantly improve their environmental performance.
